The Brothers' War, The Gathering Dark |
Harbin was the son of Kayla bin-Kroog, and either Urza or his brother Mishra.[1] He was raised as Urza's son, though he did not meet Urza until he was more than two years old, and Urza privately questioned whether the boy was, in fact, his child.[2]
History
Harbin was born in the months following the Siege of Kroog and the beginning of the Brothers' War. He built his first glider by age six.[3] He constantly sought his father's approval, worrying that his father might think less of him because he was a pilot rather than an artificer.[4]
He first found the island of Argoth where the final battle of the Brothers' War took place. It is implied that he was killed during the traumatic events of the Sylex Blast.[4] It was later stated by K'rrik that Harbin ended up turning into a Phyrexian, although the truth of the matter is unclear.[5]
As Kayla traveled west from Penregon, she heard stories of the last flying man who soared the western skies. He was a hero, the people said. He'd died in the cataclysm, they said, and was reborn as the wind's herald. Believing the man may be her lost son Harbin, Kayla resolved to cross the continent to learn the truth.[6]
Harbin was the father of Jarsyl, one of the first great mages of the Dark Age, who in turn was the ancestor of Jodah, who would be there at critical times during the Dark and in the following Ice Age.
