The Dream Halls were part of the Evincar of Rath's quarters, located inside the Stronghold's structure. The Stronghold was later shifted to Urborg on Dominaria.
Description
The Dream Halls were created by Volrath himself. The Dream Halls housed physical manifestations of his unconscious: his memories of the past and his desires for the future.[1] He often went to the halls to examine the events of his past (colored with his perspective) and to run through events he wishes to play out in the future. Physically, the halls were massive and filled with translucent mists that engulfed a single wide walkway that stretched the length of the room. Above, running along the ceiling, was the monstrous, arachnid-shaped dream machine that maintained the images plucked from Volrath's mind. Dream catchers were lowered from this machine, and each held and preserved a single memory.
History
During the assault on Rath, part of the Weatherlight Crew entered the Dream Halls after Crovax killed a shapeshifter mimicking Selenia. There, they were ambushed by the real Selenia, who wounded Mirri on a narrow bridge. Crovax, pleading with her to stop, was met with resistance as Selenia insisted that fate had bound them to this battle. In a moment of deep regret, Crovax struck her down, and her shattered form entered his body, transforming him into a cursed being - a vampire.
Crovax, now with fangs and golden eyes, collapsed. Barely conscious, the wounded Mirri and the delirious Crovax were returned to the Weatherlight by Tahngarth and Karn. Gerrard realized that Rath was absorbing Dominaria itself. In the Dream Halls, he was shown visions of his past and Volrath’s plans for the invasion. Volrath taunted him, setting the mind-controlled Sisay and Takara against him in battle. Gerrard defeated them, but Volrath's body morphed into yet another shapeshifter. Gerrard, Starke, and Sisay left the Dream Halls behind and went for their rendezvous point at Volrath's Gardens with Takara, not knowing she was Volrath in a shapeshifted disguise.[2]
During Belbe's time as emissary of Phyrexia, she took great pleasure in smashing the globes of Volrath's dreams and memories in the Dream Halls, leaving the room mostly destroyed at the end.[3]
During the Rathi Overlay, the remnant of the Dream Halls were shifted with the rest of the Stronghold to Urborg on Dominaria.
