Mclane Crowell
Mclane Crowell is a former Senior Fraud Investigator at Wizards of the Coast. He worked in the WPN Investigations Team from October 2013 to December 2023.[1][2] He also participated in Design teams.
Career
Crowell worked in Organized Play from new player acquisition events to World Championship competitions. In his first year as an employee, he introduced an update to the WPN education process and proposed an update. He also used his experience as a tournament organizer to help identify fraudulent events created by WPN stores. Some of these events were fraudulent Grand Prix Trials that awarded future byes at Grand Prix events. His work helped prevent bad actors from acquiring unearned positions on the Magic Pro Tour. When the Investigations Team took over the responsibility of player investigations from Organized Play, he rewrote the process from the bottom up. Changing this process created a better customer experience by reducing the wait time between disqualification incidents and penalty decisions. In addition, he assisted Wizards of the Coast Legal department with setting priorities for enforcement of Wizards’ intellectual property. He was able to greatly reduce the number of counterfeit listings on third-party websites such as eBay, Etsy, and Shopee.
In December 2023, he was laid off alongside many other employees of Hasbro.
