Transformers is a booster insert set in the Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond series that was released with The Brothers' War on November 18, 2022.[2][3][4][5]
Set details
This is a cross-over product based on the Hasbro-owned Transformers franchise. The franchise encompasses toys, animation, comic books, video games, and films. Between Summer 2018 and Summer 2020, Wizards of the Coast already had published an original Transformers TCG.[6] Several of the designers of that game were also involved with the 2022 product.
Like all Universes Beyond products, the Transformers cards of this set are only playable in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage formats. However, this is the first time that UB cards are distributed through the release of a premier (Standard) Magic: The Gathering set. The cards can be found in Set Boosters, Collector Booster, and Bundles of The Brothers' War. Approximately 10% of Set Boosters will contain a Transformers card.[7]
The set consists of 15 double-faced cards. There are two versions of each card, one regular and one "Shattered Glass Universe" version that depicts the two factions of the franchise in reversed roles. The "Shattered Glass" showcase versions are numbered #16-29 and can only be found in Collector Boosters. There is no Shattered Glass treatment of Arcee, Sharpshooter // Arcee, Acrobatic Coupe.[4] Approximately 12% of Collector Boosters will contain a Shattered Glass treatment card.[7]
Note that these are original designs, and not skinned cards. There are currently no plans to create Universes Within versions of the cards.[3]
Storyline
This article or section discusses story elements that are not canonical. |
The story primarily follows the Autobots and the Decepticons, two alien robot factions at war that can transform into other forms, such as vehicles and animals.

Returning mechanics are: Bolster, Goad, Monarch, Formidable, Connive, Adapt and Modular.
New counter types include Intel counters.
