Scott Van Essen is a former Aerospace Systems Engineer (rocket scientist) from Altadena, CA. He was a finalist in both The Great Designer Search and The Great Designer Search 2.[1]
Since early 2014, Scott has been working for Wizards of the Coast as a designer for Duel Masters, but he occasionally lends a hand to Magic R&D as well. He was also on the design team for the 2018 Transformers TCG.
