Status Abandoned wasteland

Gastal is an abandoned wasteland, home of the scorpion dragons, including the ferocious Akul.[1]

History

Gastal was a plane outside the Shard of the Twelve Worlds where Urza met several other planeswalkers in hopes of being led to the plane the Phyrexians originated on[2]. The meeting was interrupted by an attack from an unseen force, and the planeswalker Manatarqua was killed. Urza was forced to abandon his plans on the plane and continue his quest for Phyrexia elsewhere.

Millennia later, Gastal became connected to the rest of the Multiverse via the opening of the Omenpaths after New Phyrexia's multiversal invasion. This enabled scorpion dragons like Akul to leave their home plane, and travel to Thunder Junction.
