Bolar was a shaman of an unknown race from the city of Kjeld, during the Ice Age of Dominaria.
He was part of Sir Zaraya's band to help the Marked Ones, and befriended them during the mission. He recognized the planeswalker Kristina of the Woods when she appeared for Freyalise’s World Spell.
