The Map Room is part of the Evincar of Rath's quarters, located inside the Stronghold's structure. The Stronghold was later shifted to Urborg on Dominaria.

Description

The Map Room is a cavernous chamber with a large brass-plated mechanism at the center. Within the mechanism sits a pool of white crystalline liquid veined with swirling blue. This liquid has been "taught" to display a map of Dominaria.[1] The map can be flattened and enhanced to focus on individual buildings and troop movements. The ceiling mechanism houses several black coils made of a mimetic metal. These coils can curl down around the globe, simulating Mercator lines and measurements, as well as writing and anything else needed to explain the evincar's plans to gathered generals. While the generals can be seated in the four rows closest to the map, there is an outer ring distinctly set apart for the footsoldiers to gather if a larger assembly is required. Moggs were not allowed entry to this room.

History

During the assault on Rath, part of the Weatherlight Crew entered the Map Room while searching for Sisay and Takara. They realized the ambition of Volrath's masters was to invade Dominaria, and Rath was set to merge with the plane, with several areas marked as staging grounds. An intruder alarm sounded, and they knew Volrath had discovered them. The proximity of Selenia caused Crovax to suffer an attack of megrim, and Gerrard urged them to moved deeper into the Stronghold.[2]

During the Rathi Overlay, the Map Room was shifted with the rest of the Stronghold to Urborg on Dominaria. It continued to display the map of Dominaria even as it was being conquered, updating itself to show Zhalfir and Shiv phased out and invaders covering Benalia, Koilos, and Hurloon. When Eladamri, Sivvi en-Vec and Grizzlegom arrived there in their infiltration of the Stronghold, they were sufficiently angered by the invasion map that they proceeded to destroy the entire room and all its mechanisms.[3]
