Bryd is a human Coppercoat colonel from Drannith, Ikoria.
Description
Colonel Bryd is a dutiful and disciplined Coppercoat officer, yet he often comes across as petulant and easily frustrated. He adheres strictly to protocol, even when it feels unnecessary, and is not shy about expressing his doubts, especially when it comes to decisions he disagrees with. His loyalty is clear, but it is tinged with a skepticism that sometimes borders on paranoia. Bryd is a man who prefers clear orders and strategies, struggling when faced with uncertainty or relying on allies he does not fully trust. His practicality can sometimes lead to coldness, especially when considering the sacrifices of those who are weak or wounded.[1]
History
Bryd was previously second in command to General Kudro. After the General's death just before the Siege of Drannith, Bryd was assigned to Kudro's daugher, Jirina Kudro. During the New Phyrexian Invasion, Colonel Bryd approached General Jirina Kudro to inform her that their column was half a day's march from Lavabrink. He suggested sending a detachment ahead to prepare the town for their arrival, concerned that the sick and wounded were slowing them down. Jirina rejected his proposal, insisting they needed all their fighters with the main group. Bryd expressed his mistrust of Vivien, an ally of Jirina, but was sharply rebuked. When a Phyrexian beast attacked, Bryd was unseated from his horse and later reported back to Jirina, ready to take orders. After the battle, he followed Jirina's command to change course, despite knowing it would lead them away from Lavabrink.[1]
