Yidaro is a huge and deadly Dinosaur Turtle from Ikoria. He is capable of incredible damage, but also kind of sweetly inattentive. The monster is easily distracted — his attention tends to wander. But if he ever focuses his attention on something, he will obliterate it.[1]
History
The planeswalker Vivien Reid once saw Yidaro wandering around aimlessly. He seemed gentle at first, but one cry in the distance, and he took off barreling toward it. She didn't think she had ever seen something so big move that fast.[2]
Yidaro participated in the siege of Drannith, when he was used as a giant mount for Lukka. Although his titanic size allowed Lukka to bypass many of the city's outer defenses, his placid demeanor did not harbor enough aggression to physically attack the city, leaving Lukka somewhat stranded at the edge of the city wall. Jirina Kudro jumped onto Yidaro's back to confront Lukka, leading to his overloading of the Ozolith and its destruction, and Lukka's spark igniting. When Lukka vanished, Yidaro wandered away without harming Drannith further.[3]
March of the Machine
During the New Phyrexian Invasion, Yidaro, like other Ikorian beasts, grew crystals on its body that repelled glistening oil. Alongside Kogla, it fought back against the giant monstrosities of the Copper Host. Kogla used Yidaro's crystal-covered shell as a blunt weapon, although it was unclear whether Yidaro realized this.[4]
