Vintage Masters is a Magic Online-only reprint set that was released on June 16, 2014. It is intended to support the Vintage format, which was introduced to Magic Online on June 11, 2014, to coincide with the release of the set.[2]
Description
Vintage Masters includes the famous Power Nine cards (Black Lotus, the five Moxen, Timetwister, Time Walk and Ancestral Recall), featuring art commissioned as prizes for Vintage tournaments or (in the case of Black Lotus) for the Magic Online Cube. This was the first time players can own these cards on Magic Online.
Certain cards from the Conspiracy set are made available in Vintage Masters. Each Vintage Masters booster pack contains 15 randomly selected cards: 10 commons, 3 uncommons, 1 rare or mythic rare, and 1 card that is either one of the Power Nine or a premium foil version of any card in the set (including the Power Nine).[3][4]
For participating in the Vintage Masters Prerelease on June 13, 2014, players received a promo Magister of Worth, a card recently released in Conspiracy, but also featured in Vintage Masters. They also receive the Black Lotus and Dack Fayden Avatars for participating in Prerelease and Release events, respectively.[5] A special paper-format Vintage Masters Booster Draft was used in 2014 Worlds, which packs were generated by Magic Online and physically reconstructed exclusively for the event's use.
Vintage Masters inspired the creation of the paper set Eternal Masters.[6]
