Agnomakhos was the most notable of the Archon tyrants of Theros, who in ancient times held a massive empire, tyrannizing the world in an effort to impose strict justice. Agnomakhos used the leonin as an army, and ruled a particularly brutal regime that extended into the mountains in the north and the forests in the east, using the pretext of a war against the giants.[1] Eventually, the Archon empire fell, being instead replaced by the poleis. Agnomakhos was defeated by the citizens of Meletis.[2]
The kings Kynaios and Tiro lead the rebellion against Agnomakhos due to their love of freedom and for each other.[3]
