Jolav was an aristocratic human from Urborg and the younger brother of Crovax.[1] He had multiple sisters. The embittered Jolav stayed behind on his family's estate when Crovax left to become a member of the Weatherlight crew and explore Dominaria. Crovax took with him the artifact that controlled the Windgrace family's guardian angel, Selenia. This allowed the Phyrexian creatures Morinfen and Gallowbraid to slaughter Jolav and the Crovax's family.

Jolav was featured in the comic-series Gerrard's Quest and Born to Greatness.
