King Suleiman was an ancient king of Rabiah before the Thousandfold Refraction, esteemed for his wisdom and the many Djinni and Efreeti he had imprisoned.[1]
Behind the scenes
As referenced by the card's flavor text, Suleiman is based on the biblical king Solomon.[2] In One Thousand and One Nights, Solomon sealed a djinni in a bottle, which is referenced in his ability and associated cards.[3] The spelling of his name may be a reference to the Islamic pronunciation of the character's name, or to the longest-reigning sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Suleiman the Magnificent, who is also referenced on the Universes Beyond card Royal Assassin (Assassin's Creed, #306).
