Part of The Domains

Oneah is an island in the Domains of Dominaria, east from the continent of Aerona. The island formerly hosted a nation of the same name, until it was destroyed by goblins.[2]

Description

Oneah is part of the Domains east of Aerona, with the Sea of Whales to the north, the Voda Sea to the east, and the Honeyed Sea to the south. The island contains the dryad forest of Shanodin in the southwest, the elven forest of Savaea in the southeast, the small human nation of Amjad in the north, and the Red Mountains running along the central parts of the island.[3][2]

History

The Oneahn Empire once was one of the most enlightened societies.[4] It lay on the wide Plains of Oneah surrounding the mountains, north of Shanodin and south of Amjad.[5][2] Though famous for their martial arts, the Oneahns viewed the ownership of a bladed weapon as strictly taboo.[6] The whole country was destroyed by hordes of goblins from the Red Mountains around 4165 AR.[4] To the knowledge of the woman named Ayesh ni hata Kan, only she survived the Fall of Oneah out of the whole nation, but in fact Ittono Khairt ni Hata Kan, also survived, becoming a Black Knight in Amjad.[7] The two of them share the same last name, meaning they were of the same wrestling school, that of Hata, their Master, and thus undoubtedly knew each other before the nation's fall. These two were also not the only survivors, as Savaea also saw an influx of ragged refugees from Oneah passing through their forests in the time after the city's fall.[8]

Locations in the Oneahn Empire

Oneah contained seven main cities, called the Cities of the Sun[1]:

  • Onlish - with its Solar Observatory
  • Onmarakhent - with its palace of artisans, where they most enlightened juggler could name the constellations and their stars
  • Onnila - with its School of the Sun, where they loved wisdom for its own sake
  • Onnirah - with its Great Library
  • Onvia - with its Galleries of the Sun, where they loved beauty the most
  • Onyikhairt - with its School of Solar Music
  • Xa-On, also called Oneah City - the beautiful capital, and last city to fall
    • The Court of a Thousand Thousands - the royal palace[7][1]
    • The Great Library[4]
    • The Roof of Lights - the main temple, where honored wrestling matches were held[7][1]

Legacy

  • When Sisay and Tahngarth visited the city just a few years before the Phyrexian Invasion, Oneah had been abandoned for thirty years. They found an unnamed survivor in the library, who pointed them in the direction of the Juju Bubble.[4]
  • Oneahn scholars, clerics, and soldiers were noted for their wisdom and are often quoted.
