Koltos is one of the Cocobar Islands, an archipelago in the Sea of Serenity south of Jamuraa on the plane of Dominaria.
Description
Koltos was a kidney-shaped island, thirty-two kilometers by seven, with a dry and hot climate. Humpbacked with steep, waterless hills, dotted with olive groves and thick scrub, the island was hardly compatible with goats, so the islanders were mostly fishermen. The island prominently featured Alchor's Tomb, which hosted the threat of an imprisoned gorgon, the Infernal Medusa, until her release and death.[1]
History
Around 3336 AR, Adira Strongheart and her Robaran Mercenaries came to the Cocobars to collect powerstones. Having recruited a guide in Sarixa, they sailed to Koltos and discovered that their rival Ramirez DePietro and his crew, including Tor Wauki the Elder, had beaten them to it. The pirate had enslaved the entire local population using the threat of an Infernal Medusa released from the Tomb of Alchor, and used the slaves to dig up a trove of powerstones that was buried on the island. Jedit Ojanen recruited the aid of a Master of the Hunt and made a plan with Adira to enrage a local Azure Drake. While the drake attacked the rival pirates, the Master of the Hunt released his cheetahs on the gorgon, killing her. Seizing the opportunity, the slaves revolted, and Ramirez and his crew were left stranded on the island as the Robarans sailed away with the entire trove of powerstones.[1]
