Eternal (format)
Eternal formats are constructed play formats which, except for any banned and restricted cards, allow cards from all Magic: The Gathering sets with the standard card back and non-silver-bordered/acorn-stamped card frames.

Examples of eternal formats in paper include Legacy, Vintage, Commander,[1] and Pauper.[2][3]
Eternal is sometimes confused with the notion of non-rotating formats. All Eternal formats are non-rotating, but Pioneer and Modern are examples of non-rotating formats that are not Eternal.
The concept of Eternal formats can be extended to digital clients such as Magic Online or Magic: The Gathering Arena to refer to formats where all cards obtainable by players on that client are legal by default. Under this extended definition, the retired Classic format on Magic Online and the Brawl, Historic, and Timeless formats on MTG Arena would qualify as Eternal formats.
Eternal cards
The term "eternal card" or "eternal legal card" was introduced when Unfinity replaced silver-bordered with acorn-stamped cards. Where acorn cards are non-tournament legal, eternal cards are their opposite: they are legal in all eternal formats.[4][5]
Eternal Weekend
Eternal Weekend is a yearly tournament organized by Wizards of the Coast in association with an independent tournament organizer, featuring the Eternal formats.
