Double Masters 2022 is a booster-based compilation set. It is designed to be drafted. The set was released on July 8, 2022.[2][3][4]
Set details
“ | Too Strong. Too Shiny | ” |
Double Masters 2022 features the same elements as of the original Double Masters that was released in 2020. Each Draft Booster features two rare and/or mythic rare cards plus two foil cards. Many reprints feature new artwork. Double Masters 2022 contains 332 cards (91 commons, 80 uncommons, 120 rares, 40 mythic rares, 1 special)[3] and includes randomly inserted premium versions of all but one cards. One new card with a L-Rarity shows up in every booster (Cryptic Spires (#332), this never appears in foil. Borderless cards are #333-#412. Every rare and mythic rare in the set has a foil-etched version (#413-#572). Select cards with a "textured foil" treatment[5] can be found in Collector Boosters (#573-577).[6] There are also two release cards, which are numbered #578 and #579.
Marketing
Double Masters 2022 is sold in 17-card Draft Boosters (one card being a marketing card), Draft Packs and Collector Boosters. Each Draft Booster contains a combination of 2–4 cards of rarity Rare or higher, 3–5 Uncommon, 8–10 Common, and 1 Cryptic Spires. Two cards of any rarity are Traditional Foil. Each Collector Booster contains 15 cards and 1 Traditional Foil double-sided token, with a combination of 4 cards of rarity Rare or higher, 2–6 Uncommon, and 5–9 Common cards. Every pack contains 10–11 Traditional Foil cards and 1 Rare or Mythic Rare foil-etched card. Double Masters 2022 is also featured on Magic Online.[7]

Cryptic Spires
Cryptic Spires is the first new-to-Magic card to appear in a Masters set.[9] It is designed to help smooth out the mana in the Draft format. Each Double Masters 2022 Draft Booster contains exactly one Cryptic Spires. The card is similar to a checklist card; it doesn't appear in foil, nor does it appear in Collector Boosters. Cryptic Spires is legal in any Commander deck. As you create your deck, you circle two of the mana symbols depicted on the bottom of the card. That card can tap for one mana of either of the circled colors.
In limited, your deck can have more than 4 copies of Cryptic Spires, assuming you drafted them. In constructed, you are limited to the cap of the format (In Standard a maximum of 4).[10]
