The Sunken Sea is a vast lake or waterway that lies at the bottom of a huge cave system underneath Sukurvia on the continent of Jamuraa, on the plane of Dominaria.

Description

The Sunken Sea is slightly brackish, indicating that it is mostly fed by freshwater sources rather than simply being an underground inlet of the Sea of Serenity. The waterway is huge, and stretches ten times as long as the overground River Toloron does, covering more than half of the area of the desert. Its waters seep up to the surface in some reservoirs and wells like the Blue Blanket, forming the oases Hooraree, Khyyiani, and Sulaki, as well as nourishing the entire forest of Scarwood. It also used to feed Efrava, before its destruction. The Sunken Sea is home to many fish, and is populated by merfolk.[1]

History

Jaeger Ojanen, Adira Strongheart and her Circle of Seven, and Hazezon Tamar and two of his retainers came to the Sunken Sea after Palmyra started being attacked by merfolk raiders at night from the newly formed Johan's Joy lake. After descending all the way to the waterline, the entire party was captured by raiders, and Treetop was killed. They negotiated their own release with Beckoner, the shaman of the Born of Beck tribe of the Lulurian Clan, and were led through winding ways to the surface.[1]
