The Outer Sea is the only known part of the ocean on the plane of Mercadia. It is located to the east of Rushwood, Deepwood. Mercadia City is about 50 miles to the west, and Rishada is on its coast. Saprazzo lies in the Outer Sea.[1]
History
The voyage of Captain El-Halal and his crew is one of the more infamous tales of the Outer Sea. Tasked with retrieving a golden leaf from the fabled Isle of the Gilded Tree, the Mercadian Tap set sail under El-Halal’s command, only to discover that the island was barren — his mission a deception by the father of Tap's beloved, Evangeline. Betrayal nearly leads to bloodshed, but the arrival of a massive tidal kraken forces the crew to unite. After driving the beast away, they found themselves stranded, only for the receding tide to reveal a hidden treasure hoard. Among the spoils, El-Halal uncovered a gold-leafed goblet, allowing Tap to fulfill his quest. Returning home as wealthy men, the crew convinced Evangeline’s father to bless the union, turning deception into fortune and securing Tap’s place as an Outer Sea legend.[2]
