Part of Mercadia City, Mount Mercadia, the Mercadian plains

Located below the bizarre upside-down Mount Mercadia, the Lower Market of Mercadia City is a sprawling expanse of market stalls that impressed even Benalia City-dweller Gerrard Capashen.

Description

The Lower Market was a popular waystation for Mercadia City, as traders from across the lands could peddle their wares without the scrutiny of the elites that affected the upper city. Tents, stalls, and stone dwellings filled the entire area underneath the inverted Mount Mercadia, inside a stinking ring of refuse that formed along the drop-off edge from above.[1]

History

After crash landing on the plains to the southeast of Mercadia City, the Weatherlight Crew (sans Orim) were arrested by the Magistrate's soldiers, and brought through the Lower Market. After braving the revolting ring of refuse surrounding it, the crew found themselves impressed with the sprawling size of the city beneath the mountain, much to the chagrin of the soldiers leading them.[1]
