Avtyr is a valkyrie shepherd of Starnheim, paired with Rytva.[1]

Description

Appearance

Avtyr, in contrast to Rytva, has lighter brown skin and striking black hair braided into long, tidy ropes. His raven-black wings shimmer with waves of agate-green light, providing a mesmerizing effect. His armor is blackened, starkly contrasting Rytva's shining appearance, suggesting a more somber, perhaps even ominous presence.[1]

Personality

Avtyr is intense and commanding, exuding an air of authority that is palpable even through his entrapment. His eyes, pale brown and sparking with light, reflect a keen intelligence and an unyielding spirit. Despite being trapped, his struggle indicates a fierce determination and an unwillingness to accept defeat easily. His role as a "reaper" means he is deeply involved in the darker aspects of death and judgment, carrying out his duties with a relentless and resolute attitude.

History

Niko Aris, caught in a tumultuous clash among warriors of Bretagard, found themself confronted not only by mortal foes but by the presence of Valkyries — mythical beings who oversee the passage of souls. Rytva and Avtyr appeared as Niko navigated the chaos, drawn to scenes of impending death, and observing Niko's actions closely.[1]

Amidst the skirmish, Niko engaged strategically, using traps and magical artifacts to subdue adversaries and protect those around them. Niko's encounter with Avtyr took a turn when they managed to trap the Valkyrie using a magical shard, disrupting Avtyr's form and containing his essence temporarily.[1]

Ultimately, Niko's actions led them to undertake a perilous journey through an Omenpath, guided by Orhaft's magic and a trapped Avtyr's influence. This journey was fraught with uncertainty, as no mortal had ventured into the realm of Starnheim before — a place of unknown dangers and possibilities.[1]

Initially, Niko Aris, a visitor from Theros, warned the Valkyries of Kaldheim about the impending danger posed by Koma. Despite initial skepticism from the Valkyries, especially Avtyr who accused Niko of disrupting Kaldheim's balance, the seriousness of the threat became evident when Koma manifested, breaching through the fabric of reality itself.[2]

As Koma attacked, Niko, alongside Rytva and Avtyr, devised a desperate plan to steer the serpent away from Starnheim. They orchestrated a risky strategy involving mirrors and illusions to distract and redirect Koma back through the unstable portals it emerged from. Despite the immense danger and exhaustion, Niko played a crucial role in coordinating the Valkyries, leveraging their knowledge from other worlds to strategize effectively.[2]

The battle intensifies as Koma lashes out, threatening both the physical realm and the metaphysical stability of Kaldheim. Niko's resolve and resourcefulness were tested as they navigated the chaos, rallying the Valkyries to buy precious moments and ensure Kaldheim's survival. The climax saw Niko and Avtyr collaborating in a final, daring maneuver to drive Koma back through a closing portal, sacrificing the stability of Starnheim's dock to seal the serpent's return.[2]

Avtyr then brought Niko to the battle of Bretagard and joined the battle himself along with many other valkyries of Starnheim.
