The Jurassic World Collection is a booster insert set in the Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond series that was released in connection to the Lost Caverns of Ixalan on November 17, 2023.[2][3] Both sets feature dinosaurs.
Set details
This is a cross-over product based on the American science fiction media franchise Jurassic World, first featured in the 1990 novel Jurassic Park and the 1993 film of the same name. The franchise was created by Michael Crichton and centers on a disastrous attempt to create a theme park of cloned dinosaurs. The franchise consists of six films, and numerous video games and comic books. Several water rides have been opened at various Universal Studios theme parks. Lego has produced several animated projects based on the Jurassic World films, including Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar, a miniseries released in 2019. DreamWorks Animation also produced an animated series, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, which ran on Netflix from September 2020 to July 2022.
The set consists of 26 cards (20 rares, 6 basic lands).[4] Note that these are 20 original designs, not skinned cards, plus six lands. Each of the lands are reversible with each art depicting the land before and after the dinosaurs escape.[5] The cards feature brand-new artwork that showcases scenes and characters from thirty years of Jurassic World storytelling across the many feature-length films. There are currently no plans to create Universes Within versions of the cards.
Like all Universes Beyond products, the cards of this set are only playable in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage formats.
Distribution
This is the second time (after Transformers) that UB cards are distributed through the release of a premier (Standard) Magic: The Gathering set, a so-called "Booster insert". The cards can be found in Set Boosters, Collector Booster, and Bundles of The Lost Caverns of Ixalan.
Approximately 10% of Set Boosters will contain a Jurassic World Collection card. All 26 cards are rares within boosters and are available in 1 in 12 Set Boosters, with 1 in every Collector Booster. Non-foil versions can be found replacing a common or uncommon within Set Boosters and in a dedicated slot in both non-foil and traditional foil in Collector boosters. There are also two Jurassic World Collection tokens that are available in non-foil in Set Boosters and traditional foil in Collector Boosters at standard token rarity. Additionally, each The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Bundle will include one non-foil card from Jurassic World Collection and the Bundle: Gift Edition include one traditional foil card from Jurassic World Collection (Bundle promos are one of 20 mechanically unique designs).[5]
A special version of the cards featuring an "embossed" foil T-Rex emblem is exclusive to The Lost Cavern of Ixalan Collector Boosters and available on 19 of the 20 mechanically unique cards in less than 1% of Collector Boosters (Welcome to . . . // Jurassic Park does not have an emblem variant).[5] The emblem variants are numbered REX #27-45.
Secret Lairs
In addition to this set, two Secret Lair drops were released with Jurassic World themes.
MTG Arena
There are no plans for the Jurassic World cards to be made available on Magic: The Gathering Arena.[6]
Storyline

The dinosaurs are created through genetic engineering. The process is accomplished by extracting ancient DNA from mosquitoes, which sucked the blood of dinosaurs and then became fossilized in amber, preserving the DNA. Scientists then fill gaps in the genome using frog DNA.

Misprint
- Ravenous Tyrannosaurus erroneously features some extra words in the devour reminder text. It’s just normal devour 3. The “for each of those creatures” shouldn’t be there.[8]
