Haldan is a Human Wizard from Ikoria. He is bonded with the monstrous Elemental Dog Pako.

The carefree binder, Haldan, and his canine monster friend, Pako, travel all across Ikoria, searching out crystals with unusual properties. Pako is able to sniff out strange and powerful crystals for Haldan to study and experiment with, and Haldan makes sure he always has a special treat on hand for his devoted friend.[1]
When New Phyrexia invaded Ikoria, Haldan helped Jirina Kudro lead a column of survivors from Drannith to Lavabrink. While helping repel a Phyrexian attack, he discovered a new property of the crystals; they had rapidly adapted to wick away glistening oil.
