Sample decks

This page collects sample decklists for the 5-Color, or Prismatic, format to illustrate what effect it's unique deckbuilding rules and card legality had in practice.

Abe Sargent

Abe was a member of the 5-Color rules commitee and a regular columnist for Star City Games. In one of his first columns about the format he provided a decklist which, while effective at winning Ante, was an example of what to avoid when playing against friends. The article was, however, framed as a tongue-and-check way: How you could build a 5-Color deck to gain revenge on Sharks who make unfair trades with newbies.[1]

“  The deck takes a while to get used to, so definitely play a few matches in order to get the feel. Remember that if your opponent wants to concede, then you still get the ante from the beginning of the game. Upping the stakes via a Demonic Attorney or playing the Efreet could cause concession. You want to stall by removing threats until you are set up.  ”

Inquest Magazine

A introductory decklist was printed in Issue 81 of Inquest Magazine in 2002. It primarily consisted of commons and uncommons from Invasion block and Odyssey so as to be easy to build for people interested in trying out the format.

Invitational

I think that I've come across the top two decks from the invitational deep in the WOTC website archives before. When I relocate these they're probably going to be two of the most relevant examples to include.
