Unawanna is a tropical volcanic island in the Sea of Serenity, south of Jamuraa on the plane of Dominaria.
Description
Although lying far south of the tropics, beyond the Isles of the Scarabs, the island still has a tropical climate due to the hot steam from its active volcano. The island is thickly covered with lush green foliage, such as palm trees and banyans. The volcano is continuously steaming with puffs of smoke rising to alleviate the pressure from its depths. On the rim of the volcano, a single banyan named Mummuir, the Monarch of All Trees has created an eerie forest of straight-growing trees thriving in the toxic fumes of the volcano. This tree sends out a heady vapor that induces severe drowsiness among those who walk or fly among its trees, and the tree's roots gain nourishment from those who fall asleep there and never wake up. The tree has since spread its seeds to many southern volcanic islands with similar results.[1]
History
Around 3334 AR, the native Unawanna people were enslaved by Lucrezians who came to the island to use it as a staging ground in their war against Fysmatan. They forced the islanders to build ships from them using the abundant trees of the island until Adira Strongheart and her Robaran Mercenaries arrived and liberated the Unawanna people.[1]
