The Sylvan Library is a magical place in the woods of southern Argenti on Dominaria.
Decription
The Sylvan Library is located inside a gigantic deformed tree located in a circular glen behind a nearly uninterrupted pine wall. The glen is covered with creeping vines and lush, verdant ivy. The smaller trees bulge at the center, their limbs thick, swollen, and misshapen, but they have an irregular beauty. At the far end of the glen is a large and tubular tree, its limbs so engorged that they all reach down, growing in graceful horizontal whorls, with the forest floor to support their weight. A bright golden glow shines behind them, coming from the center of the tree. While sitting in a niche in that tree one can merge with the forest, becoming its avatar. Only third-laurel druids can approach the Sylvan Library, as it is dangerous to nonbelievers. It grants not just knowledge, but comprehension.[1][2]
History
At around 3607 AR, the Sylvan Library was protected by the archdruid Lord Magnus, who had become Argenti's forest avatar. Magnus was able to use the Sylvan Library to reincarnate after each defeat. Tetsuo Umezawa came to the island to quell the uprising against the Empire of Madara, and in the process, Magnus confronted the party and was defeated, but came back to challenge them after the Libray reincarnated him. When asked about a cure from the library to remove Kei Takahashi's eumidian infestation, he told them there was no cure, but the process could be stopped by separating the parasite from the host and killing it. This process was successful, although it left Kei in a half-mutated state.[1]
