The Fall of Storgard was an event that occurred during the Ice Age on Dominaria.

Description

Following the corruption of king Miko by the planeswalker Tevesh Szat, the council of Storgard had opted to stay in the city even in the face of the encroaching Raynor Glacier. Opposing this decision was Oriel Kjeldos, Jason Carthalion, Hurn, and Mariska, and the outcome of the decision to stay was put to a duel between Jason and the mage Freyalise (before her ascension as a planeswalker). [3]

Jason won the duel, allowing those who wanted to leave the city, while the rest stayed behind. The refugees eventually settled further south and east on the ruined foundations of old Penregon, which ironically had met the same fate as Storgard millennia before. Here, they founded the city of Kjeld, which would become the capital of the nation of Kjeldor. Those who stayed behind in Storgard were eventually swallowed by the glacier, wiping them all out, much to Tevesh Szat's pleasure.[3]

Notes

  1. The first page of the Ice Age comic says the fall of Storgard occurred "some four millennia before the GATHERING". Using this date would place the Fall way back in the Time of Legends, which then causes issues with the timeline of Kjeldor through its rulers.[1] There is other information, such as the date of the founding of Kjeldor which places this event much closer to the end of the Ice Age, 566 years before the Gathering.[2]
