Argivia is the capital of New Argive, part of the Terisian Isles on the world of Dominaria.

Description

Argivia is located on the east coast of New Argive. The greatest fortification in all of Dominaria, Argivia is surrounded by a system of walls and crenellations, powered by clockwork and powerstones that can move and adapt to meet any conceivable threat.[1]

History

After the Ice Age

The first Argivia, originally the renamed city of Kjeld, held a steep, bowl-shaped harbor and inns such as "Penkin's", "the Acorn and Hammer", and "the Midus Well". The Argivian University was located here. Like Efuan Pincar, it celebrated the "Feast of Fruits". It was a wine city, and imported burgundy wines from the fertile island of Korlis to the south, although "Penregon beer", carrying the name of the ancient capital of Argive, was also available for purchase. It held streets like "Ironmonger Lane", "Lanyard Street" and "Bowline Square".[2]

Invasion

The city of Argivia, formerly Kjeld, was ruined in the Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria in a raid led by the Compleated scholar Godwyn. Godwyn killed all of the city's inhabitants and destroyed almost all of its books, although he was betrayed and killed by the Compleated woman Kari.[3]

In the fresh ruins, Rhammidarigaaz and Rith and the Dragon Nations flew in from Yavimaya, seeking out the ruined library of Argivia, witnessing the absolute destruction of the city, and slaying Phyrexians on the way. Diving into the many levels of the ancient library, they came to the lowest basement level, where Treva had been cemented into the floor, crucified beneath pillars. Performing a ritual draining the life of four of the living dragons, Treva was awoken, joining them on their way to the next primeval.[4]

Rebuilt Argivia

During the Rift Era, a second city carrying the same name, Argivia, was built on the former site of the fallen city. During the New Phyrexian Invasion, Argivia again became overrun with Phyrexians led by the sleeper agent Stenn.
