Information
Plane Dominaria

The Northland, sometimes called the Ancient Northland, the Arctic Continent or the Arctic Wastes, is a huge uncharted landmass around the north pole of Dominaria, larger than all other known land masses put together.[1]

Description

The Arctic Continent's southwestern peninsula, Upper Videnth, stretches towards Terisiare. The human inhabitants of the Northland have a Scandinavian-inspired culture.[2]

Although not named specifically as part of Northland, the description of Vosok's location of icy fjords 3000 miles from Icehaven[3] fits well with being located on the peninsula to the east of Upper Videnth.

According to Daisilodavi, the Royal Assassin of Amjad, there is an ice giant named Yyelor who is kept bound to the Northland by a cold iron chain.[4]

History

The proximity of Upper Videnth to Terisiare is one of the reasons why Terisiare got hit so badly with glaciers during the Ice Age. During the Ice Age, the glaciers created a land bridge between Terisiare and Northland, and many people were driven south by the extreme cold as the ice traveled further across ocean and land masses.[5]
