Hero (card type)

Hero is a card type that will be introduced with Theros as part of the Hero's Path of the Theros block. Hero Cards are physical cards that have Magic-like abilities, but aren't Magic cards. [1]
Players will get Hero cards in their prerelease packs, at the Release Weekend Friday Night Magic and at Game Day. Hero cards act like a Vanguard, while playing against the challenge deck during Game day. The hero cards not have Magic backs and do not go into the player's deck.
