Description
Thura Sail-Rend, known also as Thura Oathkeeper and Thura Curse-breaker, is a formidable warrior. She wears splint mail, and has a leathery face, suggesting years of battle-hardened experience. She is described as having laugh lines like deep ruts and a grin that accompanies her interactions with others. Thura's decisive actions and straightforward demeanor are evident in her interactions during the feast where she engages in banter and hearty drinking with fellow warriors in the halls of Starnheim.[2]
History
In life, Thura was of the Beskir clan. She faced betrayal from her kin. During a battle, Thura confronted her former brother and ally turned traitor and enemy, only known as Kinkiller, in a visceral duel that mirrored the intensity of familial betrayal. Ultimately, Thura triumphed, avenging her family's honor by using Kinkiller's blade against him. This act sealed her fate, marking her death amid her victory.[1]
After her valiant death, Thura's soul was claimed by the Valkyries. She was conferred with titles befitting her deeds: Thura Sail-Rend, Thura Oathkeeper, and Thura Curse-breaker. These titles honored her valor in battle and the oath she upheld to her clan. Her journey continued into Starnheim, the realm of the honored dead, where she joined the company of other heroic spirits.[1]
In Starnheim, Thura Sail-Rend feasted among a diverse gathering of heroic spirits and legendary figures from across realms and races. The hall was filled with warriors, poets, humans, dwarves, elves, giants, and others, each with their tales of valor and honor. They shared stories amidst the rich aromas of roasting meat, seasoned vegetables, and crackling logs, celebrating their deeds in a sea of raucous laughter.[2]
Among the guests, Thura engaged in lively banter and camaraderie, sharing drinks and tales with Vígniút, Gæller No-breath, and others. Her own story, of avenging her family and earning her place in Starnheim through valorous deeds, resonated deeply within the hall. Her presence among the honored dead and celebrated heroes solidified her legacy as a warrior who had faced death with unyielding bravery.[2]
