Colfenor

Colfenor was one of the most ancient and wisest treefolk sages at the plane of Lorwyn. He was the only and last living red yew treefolk. The yew treefolk were powerful shamans, and their poison magic was unequalled on Lorwyn, one of the strongest types of Magic overall.

Colfenor was a cryptic personality, showing only a fraction of what he really knew, and still pursuing his own secret agenda. He apprenticed a young Gilt Leaf elf named Rhys and taught him the secrets and the wisdom of the yew magic and the yew species overall. However, their ways parted for some time after. Rhys became a hunter in the Gilt Leaf tribe and Colfenor wandered Lorwyn alone. After some time, Colfenor became alerted about a great coming event that should change Lorwyn forever. He decided to ensure his own survival into this world to come. He wandered to the kithkin clachan of Kinsbaile, where he was reunited with his former pupil, Rhys, who became an eyeblight and an outlaw thanks to his poison magic going terribly awry when trying to save a messed-up Gilt Leaf attack at the boggart feast of Footbottom. Colfenor tasked Rhys with going to Murmuring Bosk, a sacred treefolk grove, and plant his cone there, to ensure that the yew line will go on. Rhys and his companions, Kinsbaile archer heroine Brigid Baeli, a flamekin pilgrim-gal Ashling, triplet of fae called the Vendilion clique and Maralen, supposedly a Mornsong elf arrived to Bosk with help of merrow ferryman Sygg, arrived to Bosk only to see in totally leveled and burned. Rhys planted the cone and performed a ritual to ensure its grow.

Ashling was later doused in water and abducted to Kinsbaile by Brigid, as a result of political intrigues played by Gaddock Teeg.

Rhys returned to Kinsbaile to Colfenor, only to found himself trapped by his former tribesmen. He fled, but he was forced to battle his former commander, taercenn Nath. Rhys emerged victorious, killing the ruthless Nath. When he returned to Colfenor and Ashling, he saw the flamekin being rekindled by a greater elemental. The flamekin's elemental-fueled fire engulfed Colfenor, and the Last Yew burned bright to his death.

When Rhys and his friend returned to Murmuring Bosk to check the progress of Colfenor's offspring, they were surprised. Instead of decades, the young tree grew, awakened, and "rised" himself in matter of days, and greeted the company in name of his "seedfather." Colfenor is dead, but his (and his whole species') experience and wisdom lives in the young yew treefolk.
