Taking indigestible bones, armor, weapons, and any other leftovers, the Death Pits recombine these bits and pieces into undead-like puppets known as <c title="Carrionettes">Carrionette</c>. Manipulating these "bodies" through long tendrils, it attacks intruders via swordplay, hand-to-hand combat, and other strangely mimetic ways. The Death Pits of Rath were a series of chambers filled with an oily black, semi-sentient substance separating the Furnaces of Rath from the Stronghold itself.[1] During the Weatherlight 's incursion into the Stronghold, the Death Pits were one of the many hurdles the crew had to surpass to reach their captain, Sisay. It is believed that the Death Pits were the result of many of Volrath's various failed experiments.
