Necromancer example image

Is a Plaguecrafter (Guilds of Ravnica) a necromancer? Under the definition we have for Necromancer in the article ("mages specializing in death magic, including the creation of undead"), yes. But most of the necromancers I think of have some mechanical connection to returning creatures from the graveyard or making Zombie tokens. If the Plaguecrafter is not a suitable example image, I would suggest Xathrid Necromancer (Magic 2014) as a replacement. -- RivalRowan (talk) 21:18, 16 August 2025 (UTC)

Very good point - Yandere-sliver (talk) 22:56, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
He's clearly using some kind of necrotic energy (his hand is glowing skeletally) so I don't know what else he would be, but I also don't mind us using a different image - jusy preferably something other than Liliana since she's the best known example, to show some variety. --Varghedin (talk) 08:31, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
I always thought of him as a disease mage, not necessarily a necromancer. Also he is a Shaman not a Wizard. - Yandere-sliver (talk) 12:29, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
Plaguecrafter has a pretty comprehensive description in his name. Purple is the visual cue for black magic, but the art doesn't really say what he's doing with it. The mechanics say that he's just making dead, nothing said about undead. Corveroth (talk) 23:29, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
