Talk:Token doubler
Token doubling edits
We do already have a page on doubling, and I think the subject you're talking about could work best as a section on that page. If you demonstrate that this article is notable enough to keep independent and we keep this article, we'll also need to address the redirect, but that can wait.
To improve what you've written, it would be good to have a citation to support the claim that "finite is typically better than infinite"—according to what authority or expert? Why should the reader trust that assertion?
We also aim for an encyclopedic tone in our articles, so the "have fun" sign-off isn't appropriate for a mainspace article. If you'd like to use a more casual tone in your user space or talk space, those are your spaces to do anything you'd like (within basic policy and legal limits). - I would argue that this could be merged into double. - Yandere-sliver (talk) 07:14, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
- Our page on doubling refers to the keyword action though. “Token doublers” is an informal term referring to creating additional tokens. On the other hand, our Token page is fully focused on describing tokens that exist and their history, rather than mechanics associated with them. I suggest we may want a gameplay/mechanical section in Token, and Doubling has a “see also” pointing there. --Scarlett (talk)
- The observation that the existing page is about a specific keyword action is fair. Maybe we should have a more general Doubling article as well, with hatnotes linking the two pages? Corveroth (talk) 21:34, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- I had added a section on quasi-doubling on the double page, because "creating twice as many tokens" does not seem to be pertinent to tokens as a whole. Additionally, it seems the page maker was around for 15 minutes and has not contributed since and probably has not paid attention to this talk page. Shield (talk) 23:26, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
