The Marvel's Spider-Man Welcome Decks are five monocolored thirty-card ready-to-play sample decks.[1]

Description

The Welcome decks consist of basic lands, commons, 4 uncommons, 1 rare and 1 mythic rare. They are provided for free to newcomers in a pack that contains two of these decks and instructions. The majority of cards have the Marvel's Spider-Man set code (SPM) and expansion symbol () but the set also includes 20 cards from the eternal-legal Spider-Man Eternal subset (5 commons, 5 uncommons, 5 rares, 5 mythic rares).[1] Each is marked with the corresponding set code (SPE) and expansion symbol ().

The Welcome Decks cards with the SPM set code are Standard-legal once Marvel's Spider-Man is released. Those with the SPE set code are only legal in eternal formats.

These 30-card decks can be provided by an LGS to new players during Open House events or for walk-in demos. There are two decks in each box; one in an indicated color, and the other a random one of the five mana colors in Magic. After the demo experience, the new player can take home their deck free-of-charge to continue their Magic journey. Designed as a tool for new player acquisition, the decks also include a peek at some Booster Fun cards (with 2 Booster Fun cards in each deck), plus a way to play against a friend or mentor until they get the hang of the rules.

Similar to Jumpstart packs, a player can pick any two Welcome Decks, shuffle them together, and instantly have a 60-card deck to play with. Players are encouraged to use the mix-and-match gameplay as a mechanically simple way to demonstrate color combinations and variety in deck strategy.

The expansion code used by Wizards of the Coast for these decks is WD4.
