The planeswalker Dovin Baan alerts the Gatewatch to a growing threat on Kaladesh, Chandra Nalaar's home plane. The Inventors' Fair, a vibrant exhibition of ingenuity and wondrous devices, is at risk. Join Chandra and Liliana to discover who's behind the sinister machinations.[2]
”
There are five matches with 60-card preconstructed decks against a series of computer-controlled opponents.
Among the luminaries of the Fair is Saheeli Rai, one of Kaladesh’s brightest inventors. She proudly displays her craft before an adoring crowd in a quicksmithing match—a duel in which two inventors build and battle with their creations.[2]
The fair attracts a huge audience, but Liliana catches sight of a cloaked figure skulking through the grounds. Immediately recognizing him, Liliana is sure he’s connected to the threat Dovin Baan spoke of. She quickly alerts Chandra and returns to secure backup. Chandra initiates pursuit.[2]

Second mission
The second match of the campaign has Chandra's monored Energy deck against a deck representing Dovin Baan.
“
Blasting through some of the city’s defenses, Chandra confronts her quarry. Liliana was correct about his identity: It is Tezzeret, the notorious metal mage and Planeswalker! But Chandra is surprised to be confronted by Dovin Baan and his massive constructs. Here on Kaladesh, Tezzeret is an honored and protected guest of the ruling Consulate.[2]
Dovin reveals that the dangerous threat that he and the Consulate forces have been pursuing is the leader of the renegades who dissent with the Consulate’s stifling rule. Their leader is Pia Nalaar, Chandra’s long-lost mother! Surrounded by Consulate guards, Pia is placed under arrest and dragged away while Chandra looks on in helpless shock.[2]

Third mission
The third match of the campaign has Nissa join Chandra in a fight against Captain Baral's monoblue deck.
“
Determined to free her mother, Chandra and Nissa infiltrate a hidden prison where they believe Pia is being held. They enter the compound, only to discover that they’ve walked right into a trap. Leading the waiting Consulate forces is none other than Captain Baral, the same man who hunted and killed Chandra’s father.[2]
After narrowly escaping Baral’s trap, the Planeswalkers discover that Pia is being held back at the Inventors’ Fair. Incarceration was never part of Tezzeret’s plan. He and the Consulate plan to make an example of Pia with a high-profile competition at the closing of the Fair![2]
”
Fourth mission
The fourth match of the campaign has the player take the role of the bad guy. Tezzeret's deck is up against a monored Pia Nalaar.
“
Massive crowds gather around the arena at the center of the Inventors’ Fair, eager to watch the final event—the Grand Exhibition. Judges announce the winning inventions to great fanfare. All eyes fall on the esteemed Head Judge of the Fair and honored guest of the Consulate, Tezzeret, who announces that he will take the stage in the final duel. Deafening cheers ring out from the citizens as the renegade prisoner Pia Nalaar is forced into the arena. The metal mage smiles as his plans begin to fall into place.[2]
For all of Pia’s ingenuity and experience, her inventing skills are no match for Tezzeret’s powerful metal magic. Tezzeret gains the upper hand, and suddenly he attempts to land a fatal blow on Pia herself. Realizing this exhibition has taken a deadly turn, the crowd gasps in horror.[2]

Final mission
For the final match of the campaign, the player again takes control of The Gatewatch, with a deck representing Jace, Chandra, and Nissa. Each Planeswalker is also featured in the deck itself. The enemy has paired up too, with the fight is now against both Tezzeret and Dovin. Their deck is three-colored too: .
“
The reunited Gatewatch emerges from the crowd. Chandra rushes into the arena to protect her mother, flanked by Nissa and Jace. Chandra unleashes her full fury upon Pia’s captors.[2]
The Gatewatch can combine their abilities to protect Pia while holding off Tezzeret and the Consulate. But at the last moment, Tezzeret disengages and retreats. With the Gatewatch diverted, the Consulate enforces the seizure of the winning inventions, takes their inventors into custody, and retreats to the Tower of Consuls. Chandra and Pia Nalaar are finally reunited, but Tezzeret’s shadow looms large over Kaladesh.[2]
