The Battle of Halcyon was an event on Dominaria that happened c. -5000 AR, part of the Thran-Phyrexian War.
History
After the Battle of the Null Sphere and the Battle of Megheddon Defile, Yawgmoth was faced with two navies of airships sailing towards Halcyon. He brought his war caravel, the Yataghan high into the air, and bombed the encroaching armies from there. Although they managed to take out about two-thirds of the enemy's fleet, the caraval was shot through with a ray gun after a ramming attack and listed, sending Yawgmoth plummeting to the sandy slopes below. He survived the fall thanks to his special armor but saw that the enemy's army had sent crews to sabotage the mirror arrays around Halcyon, effectively cutting off any new production of powerstones and weaponry from the mana rig.[1]
Yawgmoth ascended back to Halcyon with the help of Xod, who had been turned into a Phyrexian that could walk on walls. He used stonechargers to annihilate both the dwarven and the human army of the desert just outside Halcyon, and discovered that Rebbec had finally learned the truth about his poisoning of Glacian. Yawgmoth sedated her and brought them both to Phyrexia, where he invaded her mind and learned the location of Mercadia and of the refugees hiding in the city's silos, although she did manage to hide her former love for him from him. Meanwhile, the artificers working in the Null Sphere managed to send it into orbit, denying Yawgmoth its power, though at the cost of their own lives.[1]
Yawgmoth then returned to Halcyon to destroy the stone silos and the Thran Temple. Meanwhile, Rebbec came to and managed to convince the world soul of Phyrexia to kill the tortured Dyfed and let her and Glacian go. When Yawgmoth had his Halcyte guard topple the stone silos, they crashed down to where the stonecharger death clouds were still billowing and whirled the clouds up over Halcyon. The Thran Temple almost made it out but was licked by the edge cloud as it passed, causing the crystalline structure to break apart. The white cloud enveloped Halcyon, forcing everyone to flee into the Caves of the Damned and through the portal into Phyrexia, where Yawgmoth would turn them all into Phyrexians. Glacian silently passed away, but his planeswalker's spark charged the two halves of the heartstone that Yawgmoth had sown into his body. With this, Rebbec was able to close the portal to Phyrexia, leaving her to face the white cloud of death alone.[1]
