Magic 2013

Magic: The Gathering 2013 Core Set (Magic 2013) is an upcoming advanced level core set being released July 13, 2012. Prerelease Events will take place July 7-8, 2012 and Launch Parties will take place July 13-15, 2012. Game Day will be on August 4-5, 2012.

Set Details

Magic 2013 is the first Core Set to have multicolored cards, including Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker. It thus follows the tradition of recent Core Sets giving a taste and support to the themes of the Expansion following it, namely multicolored cards in Return to Ravnica. It also reintroduces Legendary Creatures last seen in Tenth Edition, though in this case the legendary creatures are original.

Magic 2013 has at least one cycle:

• Planeswalkers: There are five mythic rare Planeswalker cards in the set — Ajani; Jace, Memory Adept; Liliana of the Dark Realms; Chandra, the Firebrand; and Garruk, Primal Hunter.

Mirrored pairs

Magic 2013 has at least one mirrored pair.

• The white Knight of Glory and the black Knight of Infamy are both uncommon Human Knights with with a mana cost of C, power/toughness of 2/1, exalted and protection from the opposite color.

Functional reprints

• Flames of the Firebrand is a functional reprint of Arc Lightning from Urza's Saga.
• Krenko's Command is a functional reprint of Dragon Fodder from Shards of Alara.
• Warclamp Mastiff is a functionl reprint of Tundra Wolves from Legends.
