I have a few suggestions for alternate card images we could use. My personal pick would be As Foretold, with Unexplained Vision as a runner-up. I think the art should convey a sense of "upcoming" even for people who don't know what the card is, which I don't think Glimpse of Tomorrow does—at least not at the current resolution, where you have to really squint to see what's happening. (The colors I picked on the fly; I'm not wedded to them.) --Inktog (talk) 16:50, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
- I don't have a strong opinion on the art for this one, I think I did experiment with the first two. I'd say Time Walk is my favorite but I'm fine with As Foretold. One note I'd mention is that I kept the same color for templates based on the color of the card their art is from, but that's just a convention I picked and not a hard and fast rule. - I can't say that any of the alternate options really give me the vibe of "upcoming". If I was forced to pick one, I think I would also go with Time Walk, but I'm not sure why that one stands out over of the others. I understand where you're coming from with Glimpse of Tomorrow; the image size on desktop does make it hard to pick out the detail around the vision bubble (and it's worse on mobile but easier to zoom in there). I think that's more a general problem with the theme we're trying to use so here are some alternatives themes that might be worth looking at:
- "Seeking"/"looking for" (e.g. Clifftop Lookout (Bloomburrow) or Smart Ass (Unhinged)) — as in searching for details or information.
- "Restless crowds" (e.g. Captive Audience (Ravnica Allegiance) pr Galvanized Workforce (Through the Omenpaths 1, #81)) — people in anticipation.
- "Shock"/"surprise" (e.g. Shock (Murders at Karlov Manor) or Booster Tutor (Arena League)) — At either the lack of it being here or at what's coming up.
- "On its way" (e.g. Goblin Smuggler (Core Set 2020) or Loporrit Scout (Final Fantasy)) — focusing on things getting here.
- crystal balling (e.g. Peek (Odyssey) or one of the Desire cycle) — peering into the future.

- I would say that I definitely prefer "Seeking" and "crystal balling" (and specifically the examples you posted, I couldn't really find any better besides maybe Sami, Wildcat Captain) to the other options above, they give the best feel and easiest read at thumbnail size for the vibe I'd look for. I could see any of them replacing the art. RudleyDudley (talk) 05:37, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- Agree that it's a hard-to-communicate idea, and I appreciate the attempt to expand out. At 90px, I think Galvanized Workforce, Shock, Kamahl's Desire, and Kirtar's Desire maintain their shape well and could function as pseudo-icons. That said, I'm not a huge fan of the "shock" and "restless" categories, as I don't think we should be ascribing emotions to the playerbase/readership. In the "searching/looking category", I'll propose Oreskos Explorer and a bunch of telescope cards: Sorcerous Spyglass, Jhessian Lookout, Opt (Ixalan), and Yathan Roadwatcher. As another category, we might consider "announcement/pronouncement", something like Village Bell-Ringer or Royal Decree (although I'm not as much a fan of those specific cards). Of everything that's been proposed so far, I think my favorite is Opt: it's very clear what's going on even at 80px (the color contrast is strong, the iconography is iconic), and it immediately and intuitively conveys a sense of "something on the horizon". But there are others I'd be fine with, and of course we can keep looking. --Inktog (talk) 22:48, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
