Stats parameter
This thread on Reddit points to our flash page, on which the color distribution stats are woefully out of date. Does anyone have ideas for making maintenance on those values more practical? If not, should we retain known inaccurate information? --Corveroth (talk) 06:30, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
- I don't think it will be easier without a Module that does access Gatherer directly. And even with that it's difficult to remove false/positive from it. And then the grouping of multicolor might be difficult because of Three or more colored cards --Hanmac (talk) 06:45, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
- So, I had a terrible, wonderful idea. Make a module, akin to Module:CR, that consists mostly of mtgjson in its entirety. And another partner module for a json library. Generate stats on demand. Thoughts? --Corveroth (talk) 04:08, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
- that should work, we only need to find a way to make it search right ... like Flash should not find Flashback --Hanmac (talk) 04:31, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
- That's pretty easy, actually. My only major concern is potential performance issues, but I'm probably overthinking it and anyways, #yolo. --Corveroth (talk) 04:35, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
- Okay, I can't put all of this into modules simply because the smaller of the mtgjson databases is already ~4x the size limit for a page. Probably smarter to do it in javascript if possible anyways. I'll mull it over some more. --Corveroth (talk) 02:07, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Is TemplateData useful
I was trying to improve documentation of a couple params and got drawn in by the big red "MANAGE TEMPLATEDATA" button at the top which I've never used. It seems to have generated SOME kind of nicely formatted documentation, but also seems to have messed up page width a bit and not allow wikitext, like, anywhere, so it's kind of limited usefulness compared to just fleshing out a table ourselves. And my instinct is whatever metafunctionality is included with it is just not really useful on this wiki? But I dunno. I'll leave it up for awhile in case others have any thoughts but it's probably simpler to just throw the content into a different format eventually. - jerodast (talk) 00:59, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- I'm going to try remove this. Doesn't seem useful to us and not widely used.- jerodast (talk) 15:46, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
Search parameter
I can't make sense of all that nested wikitext. Does this offer a way to just provide the entire Scryfall search query in the search parameter, without the template trying to "helpfully" prepend anything? Corveroth (talk) 05:01, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
