Talk:Sac land
Broaden vs rename
The name "sacrifice land" does not intuitively capture the definition that they must sacrifice for mana. Given the design is no longer in vogue and the expected payoff for sac lands now would be to either turn into a card (a la Spheres) or other card-equivalent (Kaldheim taplands), I'm considering moving all those sacrificing lands out of the "utility tapland" page and into here, as a page for "lands whose utility involves sacrificing". There's a bunch of untapped sacrifice lands too, which may also warrant being put here. Then, the question would be for whether these sac-for-mana lands stay as a literalist definition, or move them away into a new page of "ritual land" or "Lotus Petal lands" or something. This solution results in this page name being reused for a new page while this page gets renamed. I don't know if anyone has a name for these lands otherwise as they see so little play outside of old-school enthusiasts. Shield (talk) 23:40, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
- Personally, I expect this article to be about any notable lands that have sacrificing themselves as a cost for any ability. Can we find any development columns on the Mothership, or armchair dev community members, reflecting on the usage or history of those costs? Corveroth (talk) 17:21, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
