Categorizations

Should we be classifying the Illvoi as Aliens? As a species they are native to the Edge. None of the Illvoi cards in Edge of Eternities uses the Alien subtype. The Planeswalker guide doesn't refer to any of the species present as "alien", except in defining the Eumidian broods as being totally separate from each other. Otherwise all the species except the Kav are alien aren't they?

For the time being I've removed "Alien" from the infobox and put it back as an article category but I don't think it should be included there either. -- RivalRowan (talk) 00:47, 5 August 2025 (UTC)

Alien is a relative term, and using it in the pop-culture sense of "something from another world, probably in space" hardly makes sense in the context of Magic's world-hopping lore and its lack of precedent. Using it in the sense of simply non-native to a location could be appropriate, but I suspect that could result in a fair bit of confusion, so other words are probably better in most places. For the Alien creature type, of course, it remains accurate and non-negotiable. Corveroth (talk) 02:52, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
