Criticisms
Should we include the Rhystic Studies preliminary screening criticism in this article? It's not a formal review and isn't verifiable beyond Sam saying it happened (as far as my research can see). -- RivalRowan (talk) 06:26, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- This is actually a perfect example of the way a wiki should work. If we accept that Rhystic Studies is a reliable source, then confirming that the claim in our article is directly drawn from the article is itself the verification of that claim and we can treat it as truth. Wikis "outsource" the burden of proof, ultimately drawing on the reputation of the sources to verify themselves: they stake their credibility every time they publish. I think this often gets lost due to our coverage being uncomfortably close to first-party sources. The particular article in question would need to be treated carefully (MOS:QUOTEPOV, WP:ATTRIBUTEPOV), but to the best of my knowledge, Rhystic Studies is well-regarded, and the author's academic background suggests a strong likelihood of integrity. So, I say yes, use that article for everything it speaks to, with the caution to distance the wiki from the opinions stated. Corveroth (talk) 06:48, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- Nice piece. I would say go ahead --Hunter (talk) 16:51, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
