Zendikar style guide, codenamed "Endrakar".[1]

A Magic style guide is an internal document published by Wizards of the Coast that defines the setting of a particular set. It is distributed to artists to use as a guide when creating artwork for that set.[2]

Tempest was the first set to feature a style guide.[3] In the past, one of the challenges had been that if R&D wanted to show a character on two different cards, thay had to hire the same artist to illustrate both cards. That became harder when the scope of the stories grew.

The introduction of the Weatherlight Saga led to Magic's first Worldbuilding team. To make sure the story and worlds felt cohesive, several artists — including player favorites Mark Tedin and Anson Maddocks — were hired to work together and create unified and detailed explanations of each setting and character. This was a huge step up in how R&D built sets and would become a cornerstone in their process of making new worlds and creating new characters. It was also the start of Design working hand in hand with Creative to make cards that were holistically connected.[3]
