Notable decks

Sam played the Trix Combo deck to win Grand Prix Singapore in 2000. This deck used Necropotence and powerful instant speed tutors to quickly and reliably find its combo pieces. The life gain from Illusions of Grandeur meant the player could draw more cards, it was then Donated to the opponent who eventually wouldn't be able to pay the Cumulative upkeep and thus lose the game.[1]

The format was Extended with a legal card pool consisting of expansions and editions between The Dark and Mercadian Masques. Additionally, the ten original Dual lands were legal to play, despite Revised Edition predating the release of The Dark.
