Rith's Grove is the home of the giant magnigoth treefolk Nemata, who hosted the prison of Rith, the Awakener, the primeval dragon of Yavimaya, part of the Terisian Isles.
History
Fall of the Primevals
During the Fall of the Primevals, the green primeval, Rith, was captured by the green Numena, and put inside the Magnigoth Treefolk Nemata. Nemata eventually settled in what became known as Rith's Grove, which became part of Yavimaya as that forest appeared during the Ice Age.
Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria
In 4205, during the Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria, the red primeval, Rhammidarigaaz and the Dragon Nations entered Rith's Grove. Darigaaz communicated with the imprisoned Rith, and when he was challenged by the black dragon Rokun, they fought. Rokun was killed, and his acidic blood seeping into the ground caused Nemata to lose his grip on Rith, and she was able to free herself from her imprisonment. The jubilant Rith immediately urged Darigaaz to continue to free the remaining three primevals. After the dragons had left, the native kavu, disturbed by these actions, started a deeply resonant song which slowly awoke Nemata, the grove's guardian. Nemata and hundreds of other treefolk left the forest to recapture Rith, which they eventually did in Urborg. Nemata, once more harboring the dormant Rith, returned to Rith's Grove once more and settled in for about three centuries.[1]
Dominaria United
During the second Phyrexina Invasion of Dominaria, Rith suddenly escaped her grove again. This left Nemata furious, and he woke his fellow treefolk to recapture the dragon once more, which he has yet to do.
