Matthew Nass, also known as Matt Nass, is an American professional player. His accomplishments include winning Pro Tour Aetherdrift, top-eight finishes in Pro Tour Kaladesh and the 2020 Mythic Invitational, and winning five Grand Prixs. Nass' professional career began in 2010, and he remains active.
Professional play
Matt Nass's greatest accomplishment to date is being the champion of Pro Tour Aetherdrift in February 2025.[1] He also has a sixth-place finish at Pro Tour Kaladesh in 2016 and a seventh-place finish at the 2020 Mythic Invitational. He also has five Grand Prix wins in twelve total top eights; two of his wins were in Team Limited events, while the other three were Extended/Modern events. Well known for his preference for Combo decks, perhaps in particular Krark-Clan Ironworks, a card that got banned in Modern after Nass' repeated success with it. Nass is also a longtime member of Team ChannelFireball.
In December 2018, it was announced that Nass would be one of the 32 players joining the upcoming 2019 Magic Pro League. A year later, he was relegated to the Rivals League. He placed first in the 2020 season, but since the season was cut short, it didn't allow him to re-qualify for the MPL. After the 2020-21 season, he was relegated again to challenger status.
