1995 World Championships/Top 8 decks
These are the Top 8 decklists from the 1995 World Championships.
Alexander Blumke
World Champion Alexander Blumke played a Control deck with a strong Discard strategy and The Rack as a win condition.[1][2]
“ | Blumke won the World Championship with a well-crafted denial deck, complete with a few creatures and a smattering of two other colors to add a little defense to his game.[3] | ” |
Marc Hernandez
Runner up Marc Hernandez played a creatureless Control deck with the main win condition of Black Vise.[4][1]
“ | Playing a strong control deck of almost one color, Hernandez most often defeated his opponents with either Black Vises or one of a few key cards in a secondary color taken from his sideboard.[3] | ” |

Mark Justice
Only the sideboard of Mark Justice's deck is confirmed; a competition in the Sideboard Magazine asked readers to match the sideboard of each Top 8 competitor to the appropriate player.[3][5][6] The cards Justice chose to include in his sideboard imply that he played a red-based control deck.
“ | Winning most of his games with direct-damage spells or large creatures such as Orggs and Shivan Dragons, Justice occasionally used artifacts to damage his opponents.[3] | ” |
A Reddit user researching the 1995 World Championships supplied a possible decklist in a post[7], but noted that this wasn't consistent with all their sources:
“ | Note #2: I have the following deck list for Mark Justice's Red Artifact Control, but I could never find a second source to back it up. On top of it, another source revealed that this deck used 4x Elkin Bottle. | ” |

Henry Stern
Top 4 finisher Henry Stern played a deck.[8][1][9]
“ | Nicknamed “Vise Age,” Stern’s deck was a quick, two-color deck which defeated its adversaries with fast creatures and direct damage.[3] | ” |
Enchantments (3)
Ivan Curina
Ivan Curina played a deck.[10] The deck was predominately green, with a small white splash.
“ | Curina played a weenie horde deck of all one color.[3] | ” |
Andrea Redi
Quarterfinalist Andrea Redi played a mono-red aggro deck.[11]
“ | Playing a mono-color deck, Redi defeated his opponents with direct damage and a large number of goblins.[3] | ” |
Henri Schildt
Henri Schildt was another contestant for whom only the contents of his sideboard are known.[12]
“ | Using an almost mono-color, creatureless deck, Schildt defeated his opponents with direct damage, Mishra’s Factories, and Black Vises.[3] | ” |
The implication is that Schildt played a primarily red control deck, splashing white, similar to that of Hernandez (or aspects of Justice's).

Mu Luen Wang
Mu Luen Wang's deck is also only known from its sideboard.[13] It was a deck with a Aggro-Land destruction strategy.
“ | Wang came prepared with a tricolor land-destruction deck, complete with an army of small creatures[3] | ” |
